Sekibaku is the name of the shibari style created by the Japanese rope artist Yagami Ren. It is a style of shibari focused on the mutual satisfaction of erotic desire.
Based on logic, scientific knowledge and the effective use of technique, it combines ancient martial arts with the latest advances in neuroscience and psychology.
It is not a style based on forms or patterns, but rather on understanding the fundamentals and principles that can then be applied to everyday interactions.
This style is suitable for all bodies and all levels of knowledge and experience.
The only requirement to practice it is honesty—with yourself and with the person you are interacting with.
One of the defining features of this style of shibari is that its teachings can be safely applied from the very first day.
The form of shibari I call sekibaku consists of two elements: the constant use of tension, which I call shoden (the first learning), and the flexible use of toginawa (the supporting rope). Only when these two components are present does shibari become sekibaku.
